Turkish pharmacologist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Taghizadeh announced in English to his followers abroad the mRNA therapy he is working on for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Associate Professor Dr. Ali Taghizadeh shared an English-language information video on his Instagram account about DMD ANKA, the mRNA therapy he developed for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Learn More: mRNA Studies in DMD Treatment: Future Therapeutic Candidates
What Does ANKA Mean?
ANKA is a mythological creature that means Anka Bird in Turkish and is known as Phoenix in English.
Introduction of DMD ANKA

Hi everyone, this is Ali Taghizadeh.
I’m from Bilecik Şeyh Edebali Univercity.
I’m associated Professor in Medical Pharmacology.
I want to introduce our DMD ANKA for the foreigner who lived out of Turkey.
We can evaluate DMD ANKA in three different topics.
The first one is the sequence of mRNA we used in the DMD ANKA.
As you know, dystrophin has the largest protein in the body with the largest sequence of mRNA.
It’s near to fifteen thousand phosphate and stabilizing this molecule is very hard and this is a big challenge for scientists. Now we are able to produce and also stabilize without any chemicals and also any hazardous.
Step two we want to DMD ANKA involved in the cell cycles or cell Physiology.
That means when we give DMD ANKA to the patient, we want to DMD ANKA through the blood and reach the cells and then after get to sort to the cells physiologically cell thought this is my product and I producted in from generated it from our DNA and this mRNA translated to the protein by reticular endoplasmic system (Ras) and then located into the cells.
Our third step is cells starting to recovery and regeneration from the beginning in first hours to is involvement of our mRNA to the cell Physiology.
It’s very important because when we wanted to take a step with a functional dystrophin, we need to sense to understand it’s my mRNA and I will I will translate it to the protein and also I will send it to membrane for doing his job let to cell handle it.
It’s very important because fibrosis and all inflammation procedures did by cells did by body.
When we we want to terminate fibrosis and inflammation, we need to do it in a way with a way play a game with the cells.
That means after located dystrophin into membrane and attaching to dystroglycans sarcoglycans upon inspecting and alpha actin afferent and offer antineurons arc between the muscle and brain are constructed again, recover again, regenerate again and by this fibrosis going to eliminate fibrosis elimination started.
It’s important to us because the DMD ANKA can be used in adult and also in children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
